Once upon a time there lived an African Honey Badger named Badger FOOX.
He lived a happy life of eating grubs from bees' hives and digging holes in the dirt. Sometimes for fun and a feed he would get into scraps with poisonous serpents, kill them and eat their heads. Occasionally, they would strike at him with their poisonous fangs and bite him hard on the noggin or bum. Badger FOOX would often get drunk off the terrible poison they injected. While it would not kill him, it certainly made him tipsy and a long sleep resulted in order for him to come right.

Badger FOOX's best friend was a honey bird known as HoneyBird FOOX. Everyday HoneyBird FOOX would fly high above Badger FOOX and call down to him pointing out fun places to dig dirt holes and whistle her approval as he pounced on fat, rich honey bee hives. Badger FOOX loved his mate the honey bird oh so much but like all friends do, every so often they would go about their own business...After all, the two were very different creatures. Quite suddenly one day during their normal partings HoneyBird was gone. Disappeared! Only a note was left behind written in a strange, sinister hand. The note read, "Forget HoneyBird FOOX. Forget your mate. Keep digging your dirt holes and leave the Beings of the Air alone."

Well, Badger FOOX was no scaredy-cat and certainly more brave than all the animals of the world. Badger FOOX had proven his courage by fighting the Three Heat Dogs by tiring them out till they could no longer attack him. He remembered this well. He smiled as he recalled his celebratory roll in the dirt...But this was a different situation! Alas! Where, oh where, did his HoneyBird go? Was she ok? Was she alone? Captured? Who were the Beings of the Air? And what did they mean by that cryptic note? This little badger was a determined little guy so, Badger FOOX set about finding his mate.

But where to begin? Possibly the White Hare Mage? Possibly the Blue Baboon Witch? Or maybe the Black Leopard Knight?

Grumpy and lonely, Badger FOOX picked a fight with the King Cobra Snake in his frustration. In the instant before he bit that snakes head off, the King Cobra Snake struck a mighty poison filled blow into the chest of our dear Badger FOOX. After finishing his meal and feeling the drunkenness of the poison kicking in, Badger FOOX slowly and clumsily moved to the Great Eucalyptus Tree and fell into a deep, dream-filled sleep while the poison coursed through his body. His body convulsed as the poison arched its way through his veins. And in his dreams he saw the White Hare Mage talking to the Blue Baboon Witch. The words were in and out, unclear and blurred. Catching only bits and pieces, he desperately clung to whatever information they offered him in his dream-stupor.

".... the totems of the North..."
"... does he love her..."
"Find them.... the Five Elements..."
"... impossible... never been done before... impossible"
"determined to find his love... the love of the honey bird..."

The message was clear enough. The poison was wearing off and Badger FOOX was coming to. Awakening. It was time. He had to move fast. HoneyBird FOOX could be in danger and he could feel the trouble brewing over the horizon. The Beings of the Air were not noble creatures. They were harbingers of a reality never before introduced to this happy existence. And time... proverbially... was of the essence. The White Hare Mage and the Blue Baboon Witch had explained the necessary points to him in his dream state...
